Kingi says suspension of Finance Act against public interest
Senate Speaker Amason Kingi now wants the court to lift orders that suspended the Finance Act 2023, saying it’s against the public interest. Kingi claims that the consequence of the order granted is to suspend the government’s revenue raising measures and, as a result, bring the government to a standstill in his affidavit to the court challenging the act.
