Fuel price surge affects back-to-school plans due to rising transportation costs

Parents must dig deeper into their wallets as a result of an increase in fare on the majority of routes as schools resume their academic programs after half-term break.

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) reviewed fuel prices higher on Friday, which resulted in passengers paying more as public transportation providers raised their fares to cover operating costs.

Following an increase in fuel prices of Sh13 for Petrol and Sh11 for Diesel, boda boda operators and public service vehicles on particular routes have altered fares to enable them to continue operating.

The fare for some operators on the Eldoret-Kapsabet route was raised from Sh200 to Sh250.
