This is according to the chairman of budget committee David Mathenge, the Baragwi ward MCA.

In what is seen as war between members of the county assembly and the county boss following the impeachment motion that flopped, Governor Anne Waiguru’s presentation of zero allocation to her deputy was defied.

Waiguru had been accusing her Deputy of supporting the impeachment motion that was filed by Mutira Ward MCA – David Kinyua Wangui.

In further evidence of the rift between the MCAs and Governor Waiguru deepening, the MCAs have also slashed her legal fees from KSh60 million to KSh1 million.

Further, the office of Kirinyaga County Secretary was allocated KSh1 million despite Waiguru having recommended KSh111 million.

The county assembly then allocated KSh116 million towards the fight against spread of coronavirus pandemic.

Kirinyaga reportedly has 14 beds to cater for people who test positive for COVID-19 patients.

The total 2020-2021 financial year budget for Kirinyaga County is KSh5.6 billion.
