Harambee Stars hit ground with six intensive training sessions in France

Harambee Stars, has hit the ground running in Paris, France, as the team gears up for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Egypt starting 21 June 2019.

Stars have so far held six sessions as at Monday afternoon.

Eleven players, most of whom are local based, traveled with the team on Friday from Nairobi, alongside seven technical bench officials.

The rest of the bench, among them assistant coach Nicolas Borriquet-Cor and goalkeeper trainer Guillaume Coffey, had already checked in at the facility.

Aboud Omar and Ismael Gonzalez linked up with the team in France on Friday and were joined on Saturday by Christopher Mbamba, Anthony Akumu, Joseph Okumu and David Owino.

Farouk Shikalo and John Oyemba, who were on duty in the SportPesa Shield with their respective clubs on Sunday, checked into camp on Monday afternoon.

Sweden-based Eric Johanna, Ovella Ochieng and Eric Ouma were expected to link up with the team on Monday evening, while Victor Wanyama, Patrick Matasi and Ayub Timbe will check in Tuesday.

FKF boss Nick Mwendwa, CEO Robert Muthomi and head of communications and marketing – Barry Otieno, are also expected in Southern France this week. NEC member Nabea Muriithi traveled with the team last Friday and others are expected before the end of the 19-day boot camp comes to a close.

Stars will play two friendly matches, against Madagascar on 7 June in Paris and against the Democratic Republic of Congo a week later in Madrid, Spain.

The team will then jet out to Cairo, Egypt on 19 June 19 in time for the continental showpiece.

Kenya will play her Group C matches at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo.

The first match will see Harambee Stars face Algeria on 23 June, Tanzania will be up next on June 27, before Stars wind up their group stage matches against Senegal on 1 July.
