Court set to rule on DCJ Mwilu corruption case petition
A five-judge bench is set to make its determination known on whether or not deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu will face trial for corruption allegations.
Mwilu had filed a petition challenging her prosecution, arguing that the Director of Public Prosecutions lacks the legal basis to indict her.
She wants the court to drop any impending criminal charges against her, accusing Nordin Hajji of malicious prosecution over a matter where there was no complainant.
Hajji, through Queen’s Counsel – Khawar Qureshi, submitted that the court should dismiss Mwilu’s petition to allow the prosecution proceed with charging her with fraud, bribery, abuse of office and related charges.
